Recap meeting: Sum of lists

Today we finished the assembly program that took a list of arrays and summed the values. Here's the [code link][/files/loops.asm] of our completed code with comments. If you have any questions about it please PM or email me.

We also started looking at IDA pro. Please do download IDA pro on the VM before next week, and if you can go and play around with it. We might be looking at some problems from RPISEC's MBE labs. Please, at least download (or clone) the repo to the VM so we can look at it next week right away.

Also if you can try out with cracking lab1A of MBE... if you can't solve it, it is okay because we will be going through this next week. Here's a hint: you will have to type a correct username and/or password and then you will get an authenticated message, and you will also get a shell. Once you get this... you win.

As always no experience is needed (but it would be nice) as I would be more than happy to slow down to help you understand this hard assembly sh*t.

We hope to see you next week!

Overflow with Characters Files

Hey everyone, so we will be working with reverse engineering this program. Download it for later our meeting.

We will also be ssh-ing into the server to try to get the flag when exploiting the program (if we get time). The command (if you are on linux/mac), is ssh shell@thekidofarcrania.com -p 1001. The password is tagiscool.

Overflow with Characters

Good evening everyone!

This week we are meeting as usual on Wednesday at 8:15 PM in ECSS 2.201. This week I promise you it will be very interesting! We are going to reversing a program, and we will try to exploit the program, make it do something that it was not designed to do!

I will be doing a two segment presentation on Wednesday. The first segment will actually be presented in CSG (located at MC 2.410), which starts at 7 pm, and the second segment will be presented at our meeting. Don't worry, the segments are designed so that if you miss the first segment, you will not get lost if you just come to TAG for the second segment.

We hope to see you there!

If you missed last week, here is last week's recording, and the week before last week's recording

A reversing challenge

Hey there everyone!

Tomorrow we are meeting as usual in ECSS 2.201 at Wednesday 8:15! We will be walking through an interesting reverse engineering challenge. This week we will have some interactive fun!

This week we will be trying something new: we will creating a live stream video on our Youtube channel, so that if can't join us in person, you can still watch our videos in live time!

Here is the link to the video

We hope to see you there!

Meeting Canceled

Hello All,

We apologize for the short notice.

Past videos and powerpoints

Hello everyone! So just to let yall know, we have released videos for ALL past meetings, and they are located in our youtube channel. Feel free to look at those if you happened to miss one of our meetings.

We also have powerpoint slides for each week shared on google drive, (including this week's slides, if you want to preview them). This folder also contain handouts that we pass in class and instructions for using certain things.

We hope to see you in our next meeting today!

Intro to Reverse Engineering

Hello everyone!

We are meeting again Wednesday 8:15 PM in ECSS 2.201. Does being able to read the sacred code of x86 sound interesting to you? What about trying to understand what common-day applications are ACTUALLY doing under the hood? Find out more in our next meeting as we talk about some introduction to the art of reverse engineering.

We hope to see you there! As always, if you cannot show up to the meeting we will always post a video shortly after the meeting documenting our meeting.

Fundamentals of Assembly

Hi everyone. We are meeting today at 8:15 PM in ECSS 2.202. Today we will talk about some fundamentals of assembly. We will hope to see you there.

If you cannot make it, we will release a video shortly after the meeting.

Update: If you were unable to make it to the last TAG meeting, we recently uploaded a recording of the last lecture to our YouTube channel. Make sure to check it out at this link!

The Assembly Group Kick-off

Hey everyone! We are kicking off our first meeting of The Assembly Group at 8:00 PM this Wednesday, Aug 29! You will find us in ECSS 4.910. We hope to see you there!

Can't make it? We will prepare a video for you that we will release shortly after that covers what we did in the session. Stay tuned for more information!

UPDATE: Here is the link to our video in case you have missed our first meeting!

Hello World

Hello. Welcome to the official TAG (The Assembly Group) website! We don't have much stuff on this website (yet!), but we will post important annoucement and meeting information here later down the road!
